STC 459 Advanced Public Relations (Capstone)
This course emphasized public relations case study analysis. I critically analyzed issues drawn from social, political, business, and nonprofit cases. Within a team, I applied principles learned in this course and prior courses to work with clients using research and strategic analysis to create solutions to public relations challenges.
From this course I gained the following skills and knowledge:
- Knowledge necessary to deal with communications challenges and their application to social, political, business and non-profit issues
- Ability to effectively analyze, critically evaluate and clearly articulate in both oral and written formats, approaches and solutions to those issues
- Ability to demonstrate creativity in approaching challenges
- Ability to integrate principles from both the major and broad-based liberal education to apply in a hands on approach to these challenges
- Ability to be aware of ethical issues and employ ethical approaches to these challenges
- Ability to further develop my abilities to effectively work in groups and employ collaborative approaches to problem solving
- Ability to identify and use skills necessary to bring my expertise to a variety of clients and have influence in situations where they do not have direct control
